Creative Cooks Winter Term – Afternoon
Saturday, Jan 11, 2020
– Saturday, Mar 14, 2020
1:30pm – 4:00pm
Our new term has already started but it’s not too late to join, take at look at what’s still to come…..
This winter our Creative Cooks will be making healthy, seasonal and comforting recipes to bring home and share. Here are the dates for your diary and the recipes to look forward to.
Saturday 8th February – Lemon Meringue Pie
Every term we like to include at least one recipe that includes seasonal ingredients and every website says that lemons and all things citrus are in season at the early part of the year, I’m not sure they’re growing in our own back gardens! Anyway, it seems like a good excuse for this recipe, even better it’s a great chance to learn some cookery skills that can be applied to many other recipes, they will be making pastry, meringue and learning about setting agents. The result, you get to enjoy delicious pie!
Saturday 14th March – Colcannon and Irish Malted Bread
In celebration of St Patricks Day we’re going all out Irish in the kitchen with a traditional colcannon and then malted bread to mop it up with. This bread recipe is going to be time consuming as it will need to prove twice so it will come home during the second prove ready to be popped in the oven, we have never send recipes home to be finished off before but we are really keen to develop the bread making skills that we have done in class before.
Can’t make the whole term? Not a problem, we welcome cooks to come along for occasional sessions if we have spaces available, the price is £35 a session (discount is applied when booking for the whole term), drop an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with the dates you would like to attend and we’ll give you the booking details.
